Abstract

The concept of homo economicus has been, and continues to be today, criticized by different aspects of economic thought. In this work, we will dwell on the arguments of the main exponents of the German Historical School of Economics, critical of the idea of homo economicus since its appearance in the field of economic thought. With this objective, then, in the next section the origin of the concept of homo economicus and its implications are analyzed. In the third section the main general lines of thought of the German Historical School of Economics are presented, while in the fourth section we focus on the questions of this school to the idea of homo economicus. Finally, the fifth section concludes.
